Benita Roth, author of “The Life and Death of ACT UP LA” will read from her recently published history of the organization. Books will be available sale and signing by the author.
ACT UP LA (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power Los Angeles) was the direct action powerhouse organization fighting for people with AIDS in LA County and beyond from 1987-1995 including the campaign for an AIDS ward at County USC Hospital, advocating for universal healthcare, treatment for infections that impact women with AIDS, advocating for prisoners with AIDS, increasing the LA county healthcare budget and so much more.
