“They’re families for a lot of children who don’t have families. But this is a new meaning of ‘family’… [It’s not] a question of a man and a woman and children, which we grew up knowing as a family. It’s a question of a group of human beings in a mutual bond.”
We strive to foster community at a grassroots level just as our LGBTQIA ancestors have. The name HOUSE pays homage to the classic queer documentary, Paris is Burning, which demonstrates exactly that. (It’s currently on Netflix so if you haven’t already seen it, it’s a must!)
